Position Overview:

As a Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and participating all aspects of health and safety policies and procedures within the organization. Your primary role will be to ensure the workplace adheres to national and international health and safety standards, minimize risks, and promote a culture of safety across all departments. You will collaborate closely with management and operational teams to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and continuously improve safety practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all health and safety initiatives at the Vetropack manufacturing facility with 480 employees, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Develop and implement safety policies and programs, focusing on fire prevention, health measures, and safe working conditions.
• Support line management in meeting Occupational Health & Safety obligations, including hazard identification, safety education, and mitigation measures.
• Conduct new hire orientation on safety rules, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees and guests.
• Organize and deliver ongoing training on safety and environmental awareness, and verify compliance with safety procedures.
• Coordinate Emergency Response Team training and conduct regular workplace inspections to ensure safety standards are met.
• Investigate accidents, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Foster a proactive safety culture focused on prevention and compliance with regulations.
• Organize safety events (Safety Days, etc.) and participate in environmental initiatives.
• Manage and develop the health and safety team, ensuring effective performance and achievement of safety goals.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in health and safety, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role within a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
• Solid understanding of industrial production processes, with the ability to assess risks and implement safety protocols effectively.
• Experience with SAP for managing safety-related purchases and processes.
• A proactive individual who is challenge-oriented, with a fresh mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• High level of trustworthiness and loyalty to the company and team.
• Strong integrity, with a commitment to impartiality, fairness, and legal compliance in all safety-related matters.
• Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel as required.
