Position: Data Scientist Consultant

We are seeking a Data Scientist with strong scientific computing expertise to support the development of a customer-facing automation solution. This role involves integrating scientific software systems, performing rigorous statistical comparisons, and building new components that accelerate product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Build elements and components for a scientific automation platform.
- Perform statistical mirroring and evaluation across two scientific or engineering applications.
- Use data science methodologies to compare, benchmark, and improve application performance.
- Integrate third-party scientific codebases with existing systems.
- Develop Python-based scientific software-not general ML models, but scientific functionality and computational logic .
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to incorporate findings into product improvements.
Required Background
- Ph.D. in a STEM field highly preferred; Master's with a thesis accepted if paired with strong scientific/engineering experience.
- Demonstrated domain knowledge in a scientific, mathematical, or engineering discipline.
- Fluent Python coding , with experience building scientific computing applications.
- Experience contributing to open-source or external scientific software projects is a major plus.
- 1 2+ years executing complex data science or scientific computing projects in industry.
- Proven experience integrating and evaluating scientific systems , comparing performance, and delivering insights from rigorous analysis.
- Ability to build, test, and evaluate data science solutions from the ground up.
